About

Hi!  My name is Kathy, also known as Krysanthe.   Yes, I’m a geek.

No, I’m not a computer programmer.    Nope, I’m not socially awkward.   No, I did not get picked on in high school.  But I’m still a geek.

When it comes to defining “geek” I think Simon Pegg said it best, “Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. It’s basically a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating.”

So yes, I’m a geek.  I love what I love with a huge passion.  I delve into the world of the things that interest me, and I really don’t care what anyone thinks.  Of course the things I love are traditionally geeky…STAR WARS, video games, comics.

I’m such a geek that I used my gaming handle to name this website.  For many of you, this may sound strange, but if you’re a gamer, I’m sure you can relate. You get used to people calling you by your gaming name.  Since I’m so used to people calling me Krysanthe, it seemed like the perfect name for my own geeky space of the ether.

So now you know, I’m a geek.

Well this geek is out there raising 2 mini geeks.  They both have their own passions and fandoms.  Sometimes I find that the things they love become the things I love.   We go crazy and geek out about them together then.

Basically, we love technology, science, pop culture and video games.  Since we are all three creative, arts and crafts has always been huge at our house.

As the kids were growing and their true geekiness started to shine the crafts started to become more focused on their current fandom.  Be it Mario, Zelda, Minecraft, Star Wars or the Avengers conversations in our house started going something like this:

Me:  Hey, let’s make some magnets today.

Wonder Boy:   Nah, I’m watching Peanut Butter Gamer

Me:  Hmm, ok, how about if we make some Mario magnets today?

Wonder Boy:  Awesome, let’s do it!

TRUE STORY

So we shifted gears, and almost everything we create has some kind of geeky theme based on some one of their fandoms.   I love it!   We get to make awesome stuff while I’m learning about the things they really love.   Now I’m sharing all that here with you at Krysanthe.com

I’ve got to admit that sometimes it’s a struggle to come up with something to create that fits their fandom.  Most of the time I just want to find an amazingly written tutorial, and all I get is an image from Reddit.  This site will change all that.   I hope to give you easy to follow instructions for making all of our geeky crafts.

So follow along as we journey where no family has gone before…ok, I’m sure other families have gone there before, but I love the Star Trek reference.  Either way, we are going to show you how to do geek crafts.

About Krysanthe

krysanthe

I’ve always had a passion for writing.  so much so that I’ve been writing for HubPages for over 5 years.  I love my kids passionately (what mom doesn’t), and I truly enjoy learning about the things they love.  That’s why all our geeky crafts are so much fun for me.  To be honest, many times they are the ones telling me how it should be done.

Current Fandoms:

  • Star Wars
  • Doctor Who
  • The Avengers

Paige

paige

Paige is an amazingly creative 14 year old girl.  She is a free spirit who loves, drawing, dancing and music.   And I know I’m her mother, but she’s pretty darn talented.  When she’s working with us, her crafts usually turn out the best.

Current Fandoms:

  • DC Comics
  • Marvel Comics
  • Anime and Manga

Wonder Boy

wonder-boy

Wonder Boy is a 9 year old perfectionist.  He’s super smart, and when he finds something he likes, he throws himself into it 100%.   He knows everything you’d ever want to know about Nintendo, EVERYTHING.  He wants to be a video game designer one day.   I’m pretty sure he can accomplish it since he’s already coding games of his own.

Current Fandoms:

  • Adventures of Zelda
  • Pokemon
  • Mario (well really Luigi, but whatever)
  • Minecraft

So welcome to Krysanthe.com.  I’m so glad to have you here.   We want to inspire you with our love of our fandoms, hopefully you can take something we make and make it for yourself.   Or adapt if to represent your very own fandom.
