Diamond Ore Minecraft Perler Bead Box 1

Every Minecraft fan would love to make this 3D Perler Bead diamond ore. This Minecraft Perler Bead box is easy to make, plus you can easily turn it into a Minecraft nightlight.

Minecraft and Perler Beads go hand in hand.  No joke. Everything in Minecraft is made of square pixels,  so Perler Bead designs from Minecraft are super easy to make.  If you don’t believe me, check out these awesome Minecraft Perler Bead magnets we made a few months ago.  

I was browsing Amazon the other day, and I saw this nifty Minecraft night light.   I thought SURELY I could make something similar with Perler Beads. So I did, and now I’m going to show you how you can make it too.  

I’ll be honest, making a box from Perler Beads is something I’ve wanted to do for a long LONG time.  I’ve seen so many cute boxes from Perler Bead artists. They always made it look so simple, but every time I sat down to plan it out, I was always perplexed at how to make the pieces so that they would magically snap together when it was done.  

Well, I finally broke down and asked for some help from a wonderful lady in one of my Perler Bead groups on Facebook.  She sent me some photos of her own box, and then gave me a few tips that demystified the box making process.

Thanks to her, I was able to create my very own Minecraft Perler Bead box.   Now I’m going to share how to do it with you.

For all the trouble I had making my first Perler Bead cube, it’s really quite simple.  

Supplies needed to make a Minecraft Perler Bead box

• Gray and blue Perler Beads
• Small square Perler Bead pegboard, if you have 6 of them, even better.
• Small LED tea light

Minecraft Perler Bead box diamond ore pattern

Making this Perler Bead cube is so easy!  You literally have to make the same pattern on a small Perler Bead pegboard 6 times.   That pattern is pictured below.

As someone who plays Minecraft, I do realize that diamond ore has multiple shades of gray and multiple shades of blue.  If you have those Perler Bead colors, go for it. I just stuck with one shade of gray Perler Beads. I did choose to use 2 shades of blue (one is glow in the dark), but if you only have one shade of blue, it would work just as well.

How you color your ore is up to you.  

You can even make other types of Minecraft ore:

• Emerald Ore would be gray and green
• Redstone would be red and gray
• Iron Ore would be gray and tan
• Gold Ore would be gray and gold
• Lapis Luzuli would be gray and dark blue
• Coal would be light gray and black
• Obsidian would be black and purple

No matter what type of ore you decide to make the pattern above can be used.  I’ll also say that you don’t even have to add the veins of color where I added them.  I think if I made this again, I’d add a bit more blue veining closer to the edge of the Perler Bead pattern.  

But I am totally digressing.  What you need to do is make 6 of whatEVER type of ore you choose.  

Since this box is going to magically click together when done, make sure that you iron it carefully.   You want to iron on both sides to get a full bond between the beads. What you don’t want to do is over iron it.  If you iron it too much the Perler Beads will change size just enough so that they won’t fit together.

Making your Minecraft diamond ore box

Once all six sides of your diamond ore are complete, all that’s left to do is put your Minecraft box together.

This part is magic.  If you lay out your pieces as shown in the picture below each piece should fit into the next until you have a box!   

If you want to make your diamond ore box light up, like we did, all you have to do is put your tea light inside it before snapping on the top.  I’ve included a picture of how it looks, it’s not the best quality because pictures in the dark are hard, but you get the idea. 

You can take the top on and off any time so you are able to turn your light on or off.  

I am so happy with the way that my Perler Bead box came out, and I love the fact that it can double as a nightlight.
