DIY Pokemon Perler Bead Tic Tac Toe   Recently updated !

We’re big Pokemon fans in this house.  So, when I saw the idea to make a Perler Bead tic tac toe board I knew it had to be Pokemon themed.  Don’t get me wrong Xs and Os are fine, but Pokeballs are WAY cooler.

Making your Perler Bead tic tac toe board

Perler Bead Tic Tac Toe Game

Before you begin, just let me say that this is really an easy craft.  All you have to do is make the 11 different Perler Bead pieces and you’ve got a Pokemon tic tac toe game.  You just have to make 5 pokeballs in one color and 5 pokeballs in another color. Those pokeballs become your Xs and Os.

You can really use any colors you like to make your Pokemon tic tac toe game, but I chose to make use the team colors for Pokemon Go.   I did the board in Team Instinct yellow. The pokeballs I made red and blue for Team Valor and Team Mystic.

The first step in making your game is to make the grid.  You can see from the picture below that the tic tac toe board was made on a large clear Perler Bead pegboard.   The grid is simple and kind of boring to make since all you are doing is filling in counted squares. So, if you are making this with your kids I recommend that you make the board while they work on the pokeballs.

I’d also say that if you have a Perler Bead Pen (affiliate link), use it while creating the grid.  It makes it go so much faster.

After you iron your Perler Bead tic tac toe board, make sure to lay a couple of heavy books on it while it cools.  Perler Beads tend to warp when cooling and you really are going to want your board to be flat.

When making the pokeballs, use the pattern in the picture below.  Make 10 pokeballs; 5 red and 5 blue.

The only hassle with the whole project is that we don’t have 10 circle pegboards.  We only have two. So there was a lot of stopping to melt pokeballs. I’ve you’ve got more round pegboard than me, it will be much easier to make.

So really that’s it.  It’s so easy to make your own Pokemon Perler Bead tic tac toe game.  You make 11 pieces and VOILA! You’re ready to play.
