I have to admit, our two puppies are spoiled. We love them so much! So when I got my new Star Wars silicone molds, the first thing I wanted to do was make them some no bake dog treats.
These no bake dog treats are easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. Plus you freeze them, so they are a great way for your four legged friend to cool off during the hot HOT days of summer.
Ingredients for Star Wars no bake dog treats
- 1 cup of plain yogurt
- 1 banana
- ⅓ cup of peanut butter
- I tablespoon of olive oil
- Spray oil
You will also need a blender and, of course, the Star Wars silicone molds.
Here’s an affiliate link to the Star Wars silicone molds we used. I love them! There are other sets of Star Wars molds on Amazon, but I wanted this set because it included the Yoda mold. When I bought them I didn’t know but it also came with a handy recipe book. Score!
You can use any silicone molds to make these easy dog treats. Or, you could even use ice cube trays. Of course, if you don’t use the Star Wars mold, you totally won’t be able to let your precious pup eat Darth Vader’s face.
Making the Star Wars no bake dog treats
Now making these is so simple, the instructions aren’t going to be long at all, but keep on reading because I’m also going to give you some alternative ingredients to add to your recipe.
To make the no bake dog treats all you need to do is throw all the ingredients into your blender and then blend until smooth.
Next lightly spray the insides of each of your molds with the spray oil. This is to keep the treats from sticking to the molds after they are frozen. I’m going to admit that I’m not 100% sure you need to do this step. I just thought it would be easier, so I did it.
After the Star Wars molds are sprayed pour the dog treat mixture into each mold filling up to the top. I only used the small size molds. I didn’t use the giant R2D2 or Han Solo. They seemed way to big for a dog treat.
Then all that’s left to do is throw the mold into the freezer and wait. I waited about 3 hours. Once they are completely frozen you can take them out of the molds, and they are ready for your dogs to eat.
I popped all of them out of the molds and put them in a freezer bags so that anyone can give them to the doggies at any time. Plus, I wanted my molds back. But, you could just pop them out as you want to give them to your dog.
Tips and tricks for making Star Wars no bake dog treats
- You can make these treats by substituting the banana and peanut butter with so many ingredients. You just want to make sure your substitute is safe for dogs to eat. Here are a few items that you can consider; blueberries, pumpkin puree, mint, honey, peaches, pears, or apples.
- Yoda may have said, “size matters not,” but when it comes to these dog treats size does matter. I found that our smaller pup, Zelda, didn’t like the size of the treats made from the larger molds. The Darth Vader and storm troopers were about an inch square and were too big for her. She preferred the smaller sizes of the R2D2 and Han Solo mold.
- You can color the treats with a drop of food coloring. Yes, it’s safe for dogs. I just didn’t see the need for colored treats. Although a green Yoda might be kinda cool.
- I used a bit of olive oil in the dog treat recipe because I already put a little in their food to keep their coat and skin healthy. It’s not necessary for the recipe, but it does make a nice bonus.
- Keep in mind that these are dog treats, so they should be consumed in moderation. If you have any questions about how many treats are ok and the contents of the treats, consult your veterinarian.
I hope you liked this simple recipe for Star Wars no bake dog treats. No joke, it’s so easy. And, as you can see on the smiling faces of my puppies below…it’s dog approved.
