An easy and fun way to spruce up your Christmas gifts, Perler Bead gift boxes.

Are you looking for a great way to embellish your Christmas gifts this year?  Do your kids love playing with Perler Beads, but their creations end up in a box on a shelf.   Well, I’ve got a great idea for you: Perler Bead Gift Boxes!!

That’s right, you can easily add Perler Bead sprites to any simple gift box and make a beautiful, one of a kind way to present your gift.  Plus, the recipient can remove the Perler Bead sprite from the box and easily turn it into an ornament from their tree by just adding some string through the hole in the Perler Beads.  So, it’s like a gift within a gift. Now, before we begin, this post assumes you know all there is to know about the amazing world of Perler Beads.  If you don’t, and are just starting out, you may want to check out my Ultimate Perler Bead Beginners Guide.

I used two snowflake sprites for making my Perler Bead Gift Boxes.   If you are sticking with a Christmas theme, the two posts linked below will give you plenty of ideas of different sprites you can make for this project.  Of course, you can also use your imagination and use any sprite of your choosing.

Creating Your Christmas Perler Bead Gift Boxes

These beautiful gift boxes are so easy to create, I think you can figure it out with out any instructions, but just in case, I’ll take you through the step by step.

The first thing you will need to do, is choose your Perler Bead sprite and create it.  I chose 2 snowflake sprites that I just recently made. If you already have a sprite made, you just make sure it fits on top of the box with none of it hanging over the edge.  If it does, you’ll need a different sprite.

Next, you can embellish your sprite with crystal gem stickers.  This step is completely optional. I chose to do it because I think it adds a bit of class to the finished product.  Plus my hope is that the recipient of the gift will take the Perler Bead sprite off the box and turn it into an ornament for their tree, and I think the gems make them look more polished.

I, of course, like the crystal gem stickers, but you could also glue on sequins.  Or, honestly, the gift boxes would still be cute without any embellishments added to the Perler Bead sprite.

Now that you’ve got your Perler Bead sprite ready to go, all that’s left is to glue it to the top of the box with some hot glue.  Do not use a lot of hot glue. Using only a little hot glue will make it easier to remove from your box. I just put a small dab of it in the center of the sprite and centered it on the top of the box.

If you are curious, I chose to use hot glue instead of my normal E6000 because the glue can easily be pulled off the sprite.  Again, I want the recipient to be able to enjoy the sprite for years to come.

That’s it folks.  You’ve now got yourself a personalized Christmas Perler Bead gift box, and basically all you had to do is glue a sprite on the top of a boring gift box.

I also think it would be just as great to glue a Perler Bead sprite on a gift wrapped in any single colored paper.  Heck, I even think you could make great gift tags from Perler Bead sprites. Check out my Perler Bead gift tag post to see how I made them.

Here’s the thing about Perler Beads.  Kids love them. They can spend hours at a time making amazing creations.  Then, many times their hard work ends up in a box on a shelf. Don’t let that happen.  Let your kids pass them on to friends and family by making these easy Perler Bead gift boxes.
